WinAlyze© Notes 6 June 1993 Whether you read it here first or in the MoreInfo section of the program, or in the WinAlyze© Help file, it is important that you understand what information this program is providing to you. At the present time there is no system for removing those files no longer needed by Windows© or applications that have been removed. These files of various types (defined in the MoreInfo section of the program) are sitting on your hard disk taking up space and affecting the performance of your computer. Check the number of files that are contained in the Windows© directory structure. If you do not have any separate programs in the Windows© directory structure (MS Excel©, Lotus AmiPro©, etc.) then that number would be small with just a straightforward Windows installation. If you have installed demo programs, or deleted some programs no longer being used the number could be quite large. When you delete a program from the hard disk and remove the directory in which it resided you would expect all remnants of that program would be gone. The problem is the large number of files that every program installs in the windows and the windows\system directories. This is the problem that WinAlyze© will analyze for you. Periodically every computer at your location should have WinAlyze© run on it to determine the state of the Windows structure and then, using WinClean© take care of these orphan files.
